The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee delegation members visited Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU), Ethiopia. This visit was part of the outreach event organized by IIT Roorkee to celebrate the 175th year of international academic collaboration with Ethiopia. During the international event organized in Addis Ababa, the IIT Roorkee delegates were invited to visit AASTU.

The delegates of IIT Roorkee visited Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU) and had a detailed meeting with Dr. Dereje Engida, President of AASTU, Dr. Terefe Getached, Dean of the College of Natural and Social Science. Dr. Terefe Getached welcomed the delegates of IIT Roorkee. During this meeting, the participants also witnessed the signing of MoU between IIT Roorkee and AASTU.
During the visit to AASTU, the IIT Roorkee delegates also interacted with H. E. Dr. Baysa Bedada – State Minister for Innovation and Technology, Ethiopia. Dr. Baysa welcomed and addressed the delegates and expressed the vision of the Ethiopian Government for long-term academic collaborations with the Indian Higher Education System and IIT Roorkee.
IIT Roorkee delegates apprised the Minister about the long cooperation history between IIT Roorkee & Ethiopia, and conveyed that students and engineers trained at IIT Roorkee are now working in different sectors of Ethiopia. Finally, the IIT Roorkee delegates were invited by H. E. Dr. Baysa Bedada – State Minister for Innovation and Technology, AASTU President along with staff members to visit the newly built blocks and laboratories at AASTU.
