IIT Roorkee and Niigata University (NU) Japan have signed an MoU to strengthen the academic and research collaboration between the two institutions. The signing of MoU took place during the visit of the delegation of NU to IIT Roorkee on December 15, 2023. The MoU was signed by the heads of both the institutions i.e. Prof K K Pant, Director IIT Roorkee and Prof Tatsuo Ushiki, President of Niigata University. Both Prof Pant and Prof Ushiki expressed their happiness on the addition of this new chapter in the partnership of IITR and NU, and also offered full support from their side in fostering long lasting and mutually beneficial collaborations between the two institutions.
IIT Roorkee has an ongoing Student Exchange Agreement with Niigata University and the recently signed MoU is expected to extend the partnership between the two institutions in the areas such as development of joint degree programs, faculty exchange programs and joint research proposals etc.
The delegation from NU also included Prof. M. Satish-Kumar (Vice-President (Research), Niigata University) and Ms. Kaoru Tsukamoto (Chief, International Relations Section, Niigata University). The NU delegation was hosted by Prof Sandeep Singh, Professor Dept of Earth Sciences at IIT Roorkee, while Dean International Relations- Prof V C Srivastava and Prof Dharmendra Singh, Professor Dept of Electronics and Communication Engineering also participated in the signing ceremony and subsequent discussions on prospective collaborations.
