IIT Roorkee signs MoU with University of Bordeaux, France for strengthening academic and research collaboration

IIT Roorkee and the University of Bordeaux (UOB), France, have embarked on a journey of enhanced academic and research collaboration, solidifying their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Coincidentally, the academic collaboration coincides with the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to India on January 26, 2024 as state guest for Republic Day Celebrations, hosted by Prime Minister Shree Narendra Modi, underscoring the growing importance of educational and research partnerships between the two nations. This alignment reflects a shared commitment to advancing knowledge exchange and fostering cross-cultural academic experiences.

This significant step in academic cooperation marks a new chapter in the longstanding partnership between IIT Roorkee and the University of Bordeaux. The MoU was signed by Prof. K.K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, and Prof. Philippe Barthélémy, Director Chembiopharm, University of Bordeaux. Both senior academicians & leaders expressed their satisfaction with this development and pledged their unwavering support to nurture enduring and mutually beneficial collaborations between the two esteemed institutions.

This collaborative effort gained prominence amidst a broader context of increasing academic ties between India and France. The visit of the University of Bordeaux delegation to IIT Roorkee showcased the commitment of both institutions to fostering collaborative initiatives.

During the UOB delegation’s visit, fruitful discussions transpired between key figures from both institutions, including Prof. K. K. Pant (Director, IITR), Prof. U.P. Singh (Deputy Director, IITR), Prof. V.C. Srivastava (Dean IR, IITR), Prof. R.K. Peddinti (HOD, Department of Chemistry, IITR), and Prof. A.K. Mishra (Professor, Department of Chemistry, IITR).

The IR Office facilitated crucial meetings between the incoming UOB delegates and IIT Roorkee faculty members. The incoming delegates also visited IR Office and discussed opportunities of International Academic cooperation. The discussions delved into areas such as joint degree programs, faculty exchange initiatives, and collaborative research proposals. Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean IR, alongside other faculty members, actively engaged with the visiting delegates, exploring the vast opportunities available at IIT Roorkee for meaningful collaboration and academic mobility.
