IIT Roorkee signs MoU with the University of Canterbury, New Zealand to strengthen academic and research collaboration

On 15 February 2024, IIT Roorkee and the University of Canterbury (UOC), New Zealand signed an MoU to strengthen the academic and research collaboration between the two institutions. The signing of the MoU took place during the visit of the delegation of UOC to IIT Roorkee. The MoU was signed by Prof. V.C. Srivastava, Dean of International Relations (IITR), and Prof. Brett Berquist, Assistant Vice Chancellor (UOC). Both Prof Srivastava and Prof. Berquist expressed their happiness at the addition of this new chapter in the partnership of IITR and UOC and also offered full support from their side in fostering long-lasting and mutually beneficial collaborations between the two institutions.

The delegation from UOC also included Prof. Graham Wise, Director, of International Development, UOC. The UOC delegation was hosted by Prof Sandeep Singh, Department of Earth Sciences at IIT Roorkee.

The delegation also had a meeting with Prof. K. K. Pant (Director, IITR), Prof. V.C. Srivastava (Dean IR, IITR), Prof. Anand Joshi (HOD, Earth Sciences), Prof. Sandeep Singh (Earth Sciences) and Prof. Manish Shrikhande (Earthquake Engineering). It was decided to foster collaboration in various research areas including disaster mitigation, earthquake engineering, earth sciences, sustainability, etc.
