Visit of Dr. Elena Pavlyukova, Head, Medical Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences, Russia to IIT Roorkee

Dr. Elena Pavlyukova, Head of Medical Physics at the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia, visited IIT Roorkee. Her visit commenced with a warm welcome at the International Relations (IR) office, where she was introduced to IIT Roorkee’s history, academic achievements, and commitment to fostering international collaborations.

The meeting began with an overview of IIT Roorkee’s academic excellence and strategic initiatives in international partnerships. The IR office highlighted significant outcomes from existing collaborations and the institution’s dedication to expanding its global network.

Dr. Pavlyukova shared insights into her work at the Russian Academy of Sciences, focusing on advancements in medical physics. She emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research and the role of advanced medical physics in improving healthcare outcomes. Her presentation provided an overview of current projects at her institution, particularly those that could benefit from international collaboration.

Several key areas for potential collaboration were identified during the discussions. These included joint research projects, student and faculty exchange programs, and the development of joint academic courses and workshops. Both parties recognized the mutual benefits of these collaborations, which would enhance research capabilities and offer valuable international exposure for students and faculty.

Dr. Elena Pavlyukova delivered a lecture on “Nanocomposites based Opal Matrixes in Biological Applications”, followed by a meeting with students. During the meeting with students, she engaged in discussions, answered questions, and provided guidance on pursuing careers in medical physics. This interaction was a valuable opportunity for students to gain knowledge and advice from a leading expert in the field.

The visit concluded with a mutual agreement to formalize the discussed collaborations through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Dr. Pavlyukova’s visit marked a significant step towards fostering international collaboration in medical physics, laying a strong foundation for innovative research and enhanced academic exchange.
