The International Relations Office at IIT Roorkee hosted a distinguished delegation from the Institute of Technical Sciences of SASA (Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts), Belgrade, Serbia. The delegation comprised Dr. Miloš Tomić (Director), Dr. Lidija Mančić (Deputy Director), and Dr. Ilija Batas Bjelić (Research Associate).
The visit commenced with a meeting in the Director’s Office at the James Thomason Building, where the delegation met with Prof. K.K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee. A significant highlight of their visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions, marking the beginning of a promising partnership to advance global academic and research initiatives. The MoU was signed by Prof. K.K. Pant, Director, IITR, Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations (IITR), Dr. Miloš Tomić (Director, SASA), and Dr. Lidija Mančić (Deputy Director, SASA).
Prof. M.K. Singhal, Head, HRED, Prof. Rhythm Singh, Department of HRED, and Prof. Raksha Sharma, Department of CSE, were also present during the MoU signing. Discussions focused on fostering research partnerships, joint projects, and academic exchange programs. Both Prof. K.K. Pant and Dr. Miloš Tomić expressed their happiness on the addition of this new chapter in the partnership of IITR and the Institute of Technical Sciences of SASA and offered full support from their side in fostering long-lasting and mutually beneficial collaborations between the two institutions.
Following the MoU signing, the delegation visited the International Relations (IR) Office and interacted with Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations, to discuss the future roadmap to continue and expand the collaborations. Prof. Rhythm Singh and Prof. Raksha Sharma also actively participated in these discussions. We explored various possibilities, including faculty exchange programs, joint doctoral degree programs, student exchange programs, and joint thesis supervision.
This visit underscores IIT Roorkee’s unwavering commitment to building international collaborations and enhancing its global outreach through partnerships with premier institutions worldwide.
