The IR Office welcomed a delegation from the University of Strathclyde, UK, to IIT Roorkee. The delegation consisted of Prof. Lie Xu and Prof. Agusti E. Alvarez from the Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering. They visited IIT Roorkee as part of the Indo-UK SPARC Workshop on “Recent Trends in Microgrid Operation and Control,” held from December 16 to 20, 2024.
This workshop is a key component of the Joint International Cooperation project titled “Development of Adaptive Control, Operation, and Protection Scheme for Smart Hybrid Grids,” a collaboration between SPARC, Ministry of Education, India, and the University of Strathclyde, UK. The workshop brought together leading experts and researchers to explore advancements in microgrid operation, control, and protection, which are vital for the development of smart hybrid grids.
During the visit, the delegation, along with Prof. Manoj Tripathi from the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Roorkee also visited the International Relations Office. They had an engaging meeting with Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations, where they discussed further opportunities for collaboration between IIT Roorkee and the University of Strathclyde. Prof. Srivastava emphasized the importance of fostering long-term academic partnerships and strengthening the research initiatives in the area of smart grids, microgrid technology and sustainable energy.
