IIT Roorkee recently hosted the 13th International Conference on Soft Computing for Problem Solving, organized by the Department of Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computing. The event welcomed several distinguished plenary speakers, including Prof. Christian Blum from the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute in Barcelona, Spain; Prof. David Blunck, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs at Oregon State University, USA; and Prof. Vaclav Snasel, Rector of the Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic.
In addition to participating in the conference, the esteemed visitors engaged in productive meetings with the Dean of International Relations, Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava. These discussions focused on exploring collaborative research projects, faculty and student exchange programs, and future international workshops. Prof. Mili Pant, who played a key role in organizing the conference, also joined the meetings to facilitate these discussions and foster academic partnerships.
Furthermore, IIT Roorkee had the pleasure of hosting two more distinguished foreign visitors: Prof. Andries Engelbrecht from the University of Stellenbosch and Prof. Xin Yao from Lingham University, Hong Kong. Their presence added significant value to the conference and further emphasized the importance of global academic collaboration.
These interactions have paved the way for impactful international partnerships and strengthened IIT Roorkee’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation. The visit of these prominent scholars marks a milestone in fostering a vibrant academic community and addressing global challenges through interdisciplinary research.
