A delegation from IIT Roorkee, led by Prof. K.K. Pant, Director IIT Roorkee, along with his team, recently visited the National University of Singapore (NUS) to explore new avenues for academic and research collaborations. The team engaged in productive discussions with esteemed faculty members across various departments, focusing on sustainable technology, energy storage, civil engineering, and advanced materials.
During the visit, the delegation interacted with key members of the NUS Provost’s Office, including Prof. Aaron Voon-Yew Thean (Deputy President, Academic Affairs & Provost), Prof. Jessica Pan (Vice Provost, Graduate Education & Dean, NUS Graduate School), Prof. Susanna H.S. Leong (Vice-Provost, Masters’ Programmes & Lifelong Education & Dean, SCALE), Prof. B.V.R. Chowdari (Senior Executive Director, Strategic India and Initiatives), and Prof. Goh Siang Huat (Director, Centre for Protective Technology). These discussions revolved around joint academic programs, student exchanges, and collaborative research initiatives.
The delegation also met experts from the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, including Prof. Saif Khan (Head of the Department), Prof. Praveen Linga (Assistant Dean, Research & Technology), and Dr. Sachin Vinayak Jangam (Senior Lecturer, College of Design & Engineering), to explore research collaborations in chemical engineering innovations and technological advancements.
Further, the IIT Roorkee team engaged with faculty from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, such as Prof. Fook Hou Lee (Emeritus Professor), Prof. HU Jiangyong (Group Head, Environmental Engineering, Hydraulics & Hydrology, and Climate Change & Director of the Environmental Engineering Program), and Prof. Poh Leong Hien (Associate Professor). These discussions emphasized joint research opportunities in climate change adaptation, hydrology, and environmental sustainability.
The delegation also connected with faculty from the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering & Materials Science and Engineering, including Prof. Biplab Sikdar(Head, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering & Director, CISCO-NUS Corporate Lab), Prof. The Akshay Rathore (Programme Lead, Electrical and Power Engineering, Singapore Institute of Technology), and Prof. Stefan Adams (Department of Materials Science and Engineering). A key highlight was the visit to Prof. Stefan Adams’ research laboratory, where discussions focused on solid-state battery development and future research collaborations.
