On March 28, 2025, IIT Roorkee warmly welcomed Prof. Sebastien Clausen, Vice-Dean for International Affairs, and Prof. Stephane Thys, Project Manager for International Relations, from the University of Lille, France, to explore potential academic and research collaborations. The visit aimed to strengthen institutional ties by fostering faculty exchange programs, expanding Dual PhD opportunities, and creating avenues for internships in Indian companies to provide students with global work exposure.
The delegation was graciously received by Prof. Vimal Kumar, Officiating Dean of the International Relations Office, along with Prof. B. Prasad from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Prof. Ram Jiwari from the Department of Mathematics, and the IR Office staff. Initial discussions revolved around various collaborative opportunities and strategies for enhancing partnerships between the two institutions. Following this, the delegates visited the Chemical Engineering Department, where they interacted with Prof. Prasenjit Mondal, Head of the Department and other faculty members.

The discussions during the visit focused on initiating faculty exchange programs to enhance academic mobility and foster collaborative ties, broadening Dual PhD opportunities with an emphasis on Physics and other subjects, and creating internship avenues in Indian companies for students from the University of Lille. These internships aim to offer practical exposure and valuable insights into the global professional environment.
