IIT Roorkee, Farewell Celebration “Shubhecha” for International Graduates 2024-25

The International Relations Office and the International Student Affairs Council of IIT Roorkee proudly hosted the farewell event “Shubhecha”, a heartfelt tribute to our graduating international students. Held on 24th May 2025 at the MAC Auditorium, IIT Roorkee, the evening was a grand celebration of their achievements and contributions to our academic community. The event commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom.

The distinguished guests in attendance included: Prof. V.C. Srivastava – Dean of International Relations, Prof. Pradeep Srivastava – Associate Dean (Academic Evaluation), Prof. Pranita P. Sarangi – Chief Warden, Vigyan Bhawan (Girls), Prof. Ankit Agarwal – Chief Warden, Vigyan Bhawan (Boys), Faculty members and official international delegates.

The event was further honored by the presence of Prof. Qingguo Li, Queen’s University, Canada, who attended as the Guest of Honour, adding prestige to the occasion with his insightful words and presence.

This year, 80 students graduated from IIT Roorkee, with 77 earning their postgraduate degrees and 3 completing their Ph.Ds.

Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations, addressed the gathering, reflecting on the office’s latest achievements and reaffirming IIT Roorkee’s growing global engagement. His words inspired pride and hope for the graduates embarking on new journeys beyond academia.

The evening concluded with a vibrant cultural showcase, featuring mesmerizing performances by international students from Burundi, Nepal, the Philippines, Ethiopia, Myanmar, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka. Their artistic expressions beautifully highlighted the diversity and camaraderie that define IIT Roorkee’s international community.
