On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, a delegation from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) visited the College of Engineering at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, to further strengthen academic and research ties between the two institutions. The IIT Roorkee delegation was led by Prof. K. K. Pant (Director, IIT Roorkee), accompanied by Prof. V. C. Srivastava (Dean of International Relations & Professor, Dept. of Chemical Engineering) and Prof. S. P. Harsha (Professor, Dept. of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering).
The delegation was warmly welcomed by senior faculty members from Yonsei University, including Prof. Chung-Yong Lee, Dean of the College of Engineering; Prof. Jong-Moon Chung, Associate Dean; Prof. Yong Min Lee, Professor, Dept. of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering; Prof. Jinhee Kim, Head, Dept. of Urban Planning and Engineering; Prof. Dong Keun Yoon, Professor, Dept. of Urban Planning and Engineering; Prof. Kyoungmin Min, Associate Professor, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering; and Prof. Kwangwon Ahn, Associate Professor, Dept. of Industrial Engineering.
This visit aimed to explore new and expanded areas of cooperation. The discussions focused on several key initiatives, including joint supervision of Ph.D. students, the establishment of joint Ph.D. programs, student and faculty exchange opportunities, co-teaching of specialized courses, and enhanced industry-academia engagement, such as the CEO lecture series. Both sides also expressed interest in launching collaborative research projects and interdisciplinary academic programs that address global engineering challenges.
This productive meeting marked another significant step toward deepening the long-term strategic partnership between IIT Roorkee and Yonsei University.
