On 31st July 2025, the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), India, and Naypyitaw State Polytechnic University (NSPU), Myanmar, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic collaboration, research exchange, and joint initiatives. The MoU was signed by Prof. K.K. Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee, and Dr. Soe Lin Aung, Acting Rector, NSPU.
The online signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Soe Lin Aung, Acting Rector, NSPU; Dr. Thet Paing Phyoe, Pro-Rector, NSPU; Dr. Win Pa Pa, Pro-Rector, NSPU; Dr. Lai Lai Phyo, Head of Students Affairs, NSPU; Dr. Marlar Tin, Professor & Head, Department of Computational Mathematics, NSPU; faculty members of NSPU; and Dr. Naw Lay Wah, University of Computer Studies, Mandalay, Myanmar, who is currently at IIT Roorkee.

From IIT Roorkee, the participants included Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations; Prof. Mili Pant, Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics & Scientific Computing; Prof. Basheshwer Prasad and Prof. Vimal Kumar, Faculty of Chemical Engineering; Dr. Shantanu Wahal, Consultant, International Cooperation; and Ms. Rashi Agarwal, Project Officer, Office of International Relations.

This MoU paves the way for long-term academic partnerships, including joint research projects, faculty and student exchange programs, collaborative workshops, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and the development of innovative academic resources. Both institutions are committed to building a strong and enduring partnership that will drive mutual progress and create meaningful opportunities in areas of shared interest.
