Dr. Naw Lay Wah of the University of Computer Studies, Mandalay, Myanmar, recently completed a highly productive two-month academic visit to the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) under the ASEAN-India Network of Universities Faculty Exchange Programme (AINU-FEP), from July 21 to September 19, 2025. She was hosted by Dr. Raksha Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering

During her stay, Dr. Naw Lay Wah was warmly received by Prof. R. Balasubramanian, Head of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, along with faculty and staff, in meetings that laid the groundwork for deeper collaboration on curriculum development, research infrastructure, and student engagement. She also held fruitful discussions with Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations, exploring opportunities to expand academic partnerships and strengthen exchange programs between the institutions.
Her visit extended beyond the Computer Science department into interdisciplinary collaboration. She met with Prof. Sandeep Singh, Head of Earth Sciences; Prof. B. K. Maheshwari, Head of Earthquake Engineering; Prof. M. L. Sharma, Head of the International Centre of Excellence for Dams; Prof. Manish Shrikhande; and other faculty members in Earthquake Engineering. Together they discussed joint research directions in areas such as environmental geology, earthquake resilience, computational modeling, and potential collaborative experiments that could integrate expertise from multiple departments.

At the Department of Electrical Engineering, Dr. Naw Lay Wah met Prof. P. Sumathi and other faculty members. She was given an insightful tour of the Advanced Instrumentation & Artificial Intelligence (AI & AI) Research Laboratory and other state-of-the-art facilities.
A highlight of her visit was mentoring students and junior scholars through guest lectures, workshops, and research guidance, while building networks across departments.
