The International Relations Office, IIT Roorkee, was happy to host Prof. Ameya Rege from the University of Twente, the Netherlands. Prof. Rege is an Assistant Professor of Applied Mechanics, affiliated as a scientist with the German Aerospace Center (Germany), a Visiting Senior Lecturer at Keele University (UK), and since 2025, an Adjunct Professor at IIT Roorkee.
During his visit, Prof. Rege, along with Prof. Pradip K. Maji, Department of Polymer & Process Engineering, met with the Director, IIT Roorkee, Prof. K. K. Pant and the Dean of International Relations, Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, to discuss future collaborative opportunities. The discussions focused on strengthening Indo-Dutch academic partnerships, initiating joint research projects in the areas of polymer science, advanced mechanics, and artificial intelligence, and creating opportunities for student and faculty exchange programmes to deepen long-term institutional ties.

As part of his academic engagements, Prof. Rege is delivering lectures at the ISRO–IIT Roorkee Space Technology Cell and the Department of Polymer & Process Engineering. Notably, he is offering a special lecture series on Machine Learning and Applications in Polymer Science & Engineering for MTech and PhD students—bridging advanced mechanics, polymers, and AI.
Prof. Rege’s ongoing collaboration with Prof. Pradip K. Maji has already led to two active Indo-German research projects, and IIT Roorkee looks forward to deepening collaborations with the University of Twente through Indo-Dutch and Indo-European initiatives.
