IIT Roorkee was delighted to host Dr. Joao Carvalho Nunes and Dr. Reynold Chow from Wageningen University & Research, Netherlands, as part of their ongoing collaborative research project, “Restructuring and Enhancing Strategies with a Transformative Approach for Integrated Water Disaster Management in India and the Netherlands (RESTART-IN)”.
The project brings together interdisciplinary expertise from the Department of Water Resources Development (Prof. Idhaya Chandhiran & Prof. K.S. Kasiviswanathan), Department of Civil Engineering (Prof. Siddhartha Khare), and the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences (Prof. Diptimayee Nayak).
During their visit, the team, along with Prof. Idhaya Chandhiran, Department of Water Resources Development & Management, met Dean IR, Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, at the International Relations Office. They discussed strategies to deepen Indo-Dutch academic and research collaboration through exchange programs, co-supervised research, joint workshops, and institutional partnerships.
They, along with their IITR counterparts, also hosted a side session on “Transformative Approaches to Integrated Flood and Drought Management: International Insights and Innovations,” held as part of the IAHS (International Association of Hydrological Sciences) 2025 Scientific Assembly at IIT Roorkee on 6th October 2025.
