Prof. K. K. Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee, together with Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations, and Prof. S. H. Upadhyay, Head, Centre for Space Science & Technology, visited the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, to explore opportunities for academic collaboration and joint research.
The team was warmly welcomed by Prof. N.D. Gunawardena, Vice Chancellor; Prof. D.P. Chandrasekara, Deputy Vice Chancellor; Dr. Samaradivakara GVI, Director of International Relations; Prof. Jagath Manatunge, Dean of Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Chinthaka Mallikarachchi, Department of Civil Engineering, along with other faculty and staff of the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka.

A Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed between IIT Roorkee and the University of Moratuwa, laying the foundation for a long-term collaboration in education, research, and innovation. With the groundwork already in place, both institutions look forward to signing a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) soon to further strengthen their partnership.

During the visit, Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava delivered a presentation on IIT Roorkee, highlighting its global outreach, research strengths, and potential areas where both institutions can work together. The discussion focused on creating pathways for faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, and innovative academic partnerships.
