Prof. Gaurav Sharma recently visited IIT Roorkee to attend the Foundation Day, celebrated on 25th November 2025, where he was honoured with the Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA) 2024. Prof. Sharma, an IIT Roorkee alumnus (B.E. E&C, 1990), is a Professor at the University of Rochester with notable contributions in image processing, data science, and computational imaging.
During his visit, Prof. Sharma also visited the International Relations Office along with Prof. THARUN KUMAR REDDY BOLLU from the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, IIT Roorkee, and met the Dean of International Relations, IIT Roorkee, Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava. During the meeting, they discussed potential avenues for academic collaboration, including joint research projects, faculty exchanges, and opportunities for student mobility between the two institutions.
