Prof. Alexandre Presas Batlló, Director of the Centre for Industrial Diagnostics and Fluid Dynamics (CDIF), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona Tech, Spain, visited Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee from 16 December 2025 to 30 December 2025 as part of collaborative activities under the SPARC project (SRIC No.: SPA-2425-HRD-CNA/24-25) with the Department of Hydro & Renewable Energy (HRED).
During his visit, Prof. Presas engaged in a series of academic discussions and planning sessions aimed at strengthening research partnership between IIT Roorkee and CDIF-UPC in advanced hydropower monitoring and related areas. This builds upon previous joint efforts, including the international workshop on “Futuristic Hydropower Monitoring: Advanced Sensors and AI Tools” hosted by HRED under SPARC, where Prof. Presas and Prof. Chandra Shekhar Pant participated in the inauguration and academic sessions.

As part of his engagement, Prof. Alexandre Presas, accompanied by Prof. C.S. Pant (Department of Hydro & Renewable Energy), visited the Office of International Relations (IR) and held a meeting with the Dean of International Relations, IIT Roorkee, Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, to discuss institutional collaboration frameworks, including potential formal agreements and academic exchange opportunities. These discussions focused on exploring possibilities for formal agreements such as Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) or Memoranda of Agreement (MoAs), as well as academic pathways including co-tutelle (joint supervision) PhD arrangements and other structured academic exchange opportunities between the two institutions.
