On December 16, 2025, Prof. Rajdeep Chatterjee from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR), who was on an academic visit to Japan under the JSPS Bilateral Program, paid a courtesy visit to President Hiroyuki Sakuragi of Osaka Metropolitan University (OMU). He was accompanied by Mr. Shaun Budarpur, a MEXT Scholarship student from IITR currently studying at OMU. LinkedIn
The visit underscored the long-standing partnership between OMU and IITR, which began with an MoU signed in 2022. During the meeting, both institutions reflected on their active research collaborations—including work in Physics with Associate Prof. Wataru Horiuchi and in Informatics with Prof. Masakazu Iwamura—highlighting ongoing academic exchanges and joint scholarly engagement.
Following the courtesy meeting, IITR and OMU formally signed a new Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) focused on deepening academic ties and expanding student exchange opportunities across a broader range of disciplines, further strengthening international collaboration between the two universities.
