Visit of Prof. Mitsuo Ozawa, Gunma University (Japan), to IIT Roorkee

Prof. Mitsuo Ozawa, Professor at the School of Science and Technology, Gunma University (SSTGU), Japan, visited the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee as part of academic engagement activities. During his visit to the Institute, he visited the International Relations (IR) Office and held a constructive meeting with Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations, IIT Roorkee, to discuss shared academic interests and explore future collaboration opportunities.

The meeting underscored the strong mutual interest in developing academic and research cooperation between SSTGU and IIT Roorkee. Both parties emphasized their shared belief that collaboration among leading institutions of higher education fosters cultural enrichment, scientific advancement, and enduring international friendship.

In line with these discussions, the two institutes have agreed in principle to establish an Agreement of Academic Cooperation. This agreement aims to formalize collaboration in areas of mutual interest and lay the foundation for deeper engagement through joint academic activities, research exchanges, and potentially student and faculty mobility programs.

The primary groundwork for the cooperation framework has been completed through these high-level consultations, and both institutions are now preparing to finalize and sign a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the near future. This MoU will serve as the official basis for structured academic cooperation, enabling collaborative research, exchange programs, workshops, and other joint activities that benefit both institutions and strengthen India–Japan academic ties.
