IIT Roorkee recently welcomed a visiting student from the International Centre for Frugal Innovation under the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Universities, Netherlands, during the period 02 November 2025 to 24 January 2026.
The visiting student was associated with the Department Of Design, IIT Roorkee, under the guidance of Prof. Apurbba Kumar Sharma, Head, Department of Design, and the supervision of Prof. Bibhuti Ranjan Bhattacharjya, Assistant Professor, Department of Design and Joint Faculty, Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (CSRD), IIT Roorkee. The visit aimed to strengthen international academic engagement and foster collaboration in the areas of design, sustainability, and frugal innovation.
During the visit, the student actively participated in academic interactions, research discussions, and exposure activities at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. Accompanied by Prof. Bhattacharjya, the student visited the International Relations Office and interacted with Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations, IIT Roorkee, gaining insights into international collaborations, student exchange programmes, and global academic partnerships.
Throughout the visit period, the student gained valuable learning experience related to frugal innovation practices, sustainable rural development approaches, and interdisciplinary design methodologies. The visit contributed to enhancing mutual understanding and academic cooperation between IIT Roorkee and the LDE Universities Alliance(International Centre for Frugal Innovation ), reinforcing ongoing efforts toward international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and global learning initiatives.
