IR Office organized JST-LOTUS Fellowship Interaction Session

The Office of International Relations, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, recently organized an Interaction Session with JST‑LOTUS Scholarship awardee faculty members and their visiting students. The session was chaired by Prof. K.K. Pant, Director IIT Roorkee, who warmly welcomed the participants and encouraged them to make the most of this prestigious opportunity. Prof. Pant also spoke about the importance of strengthening Indo‑Japanese collaboration in research and academics, highlighting how such fellowships open new avenues for global partnerships and knowledge exchange. He emphasized that these opportunities not only enhance academic visibility but also build long‑term bridges between institutions and nations.

Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations, IIT Roorkee, informed that this year, 23 students from IIT Roorkee, along with their supervisors, have received the prestigious JST‑LOTUS Fellowship, a fully funded international research exchange programme sponsored by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), Government of Japan. Prof. Srivastava further highlighted the fellowship’s significance in fostering Indo-Japanese academic collaboration and mentioned that IIT Roorkee students will visit various Japanese institutions, including The University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, Osaka Metropolitan University, and Gunma University, etc.

The session reaffirmed IIT Roorkee’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships and promoting high‑quality Indo-Japanese collaboration.
