Visit of Prof. Ganesh N. Pandian, Kyoto University (Japan), to IIT Roorkee (India)

Prof. Ganesh N Pandian, Head of the Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS), Kyoto University, Japan, recently visited the International Relations Office, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, accompanied by Prof. Gopinath Packirisamy from the Department of Biosciences & Bioengineering. He interacted with Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations, IIT Roorkee, to explore avenues for strengthening partnerships between IIT Roorkee and Kyoto University.

As part of his visit, the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering (BSBE) organized a lecture titled “From Idea to Award: Practical Guidance for Success in Japanese Government and Private Scholarships” on 27th January 2026 at the BSBE Auditorium. The lecture witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty, research scholars, and students, who benefitted from Prof. Ganesh’s pioneering insights on scholarship opportunities and academic growth.

During his visit, a meeting was scheduled in the Director’s Office at the James Thomson Building. The meeting was attended by Prof. K.K. Pant, Director IITR, along with Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations; Prof. KARUN RAWAT, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering; Prof. Paramasivan Arumugam, Department of Physics; Prof. P. Gopinath, Department of Biosciences & Bioengineering, and some other officials.

The discussions focused on deepening collaboration in biosciences, nanotechnology, and intelligent chem‑bioinformatics through faculty/student exchanges, joint research, and knowledge‑sharing initiatives. Both sides agreed to pursue collaborative programs to boost academic mobility and strengthen Indo‑Japanese research ties.
