IIT Roorkee and Uttarakhand Delegation Visit Embassy of India, Berlin

The IIT Roorkee delegation, together with representatives of the Government of Uttarakhand, visited the Embassy of India in Berlin on 7 January 2026 to deepen India–Germany engagement in higher education, science, innovation, and skilling through stronger government-to-government (G2G) and institution-to-institution collaboration. The IIT Roorkee delegation comprised Prof. K.K. Pant, Director IIT Roorkee; Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations; and Prof. Ankit Agarwal, Department of Hydrology.

The Government of Uttarakhand delegation was represented by Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha, Secretary, Technical Education, Uttarakhand, and Prof. Tripta Thakur, Vice Chancellor, Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University

At the Embassy of India, Berlin, the delegation was received by Mr. Abhishek Dubey, Deputy Chief of Mission; Dr. Dinesh Antil, First Secretary (ITOU, Economics & Commerce); and Dr. Ramanuj Banerjee, Counsellor (Science & Technology). The interaction featured an exchange of remarks and strategic insights on expanding the scope and impact of India–Germany cooperation, with a clear emphasis on building structured collaborative frameworks, enabling joint research and innovation programmes, and translating academic partnerships into outcomes relevant to national and regional priorities.

The discussions particularly highlighted the opportunity to strengthen the international presence and partnerships of IIT Roorkee and the State of Uttarakhand across science and technology, skilling and talent development, and wider economic and industry linkages. The meeting reaffirmed a shared commitment to advancing long-term, mission-driven collaboration connecting universities, government, and stakeholders to accelerate knowledge exchange, capacity building, and high-impact initiatives that further consolidate institutional ties between India and Germany.
