The Department of Hydrology, IIT Roorkee, recently hosted Prof. Reik Donner, Professor for Mathematics (Data Science and Stochastic Modelling) at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences, Germany. As part of his visit, the department organized an expert lecture titled “Spatio-temporal Patterns in Compound Climate Events: From Co-occurrence Statistics to Complex Networks” on 28th January 2026. The session drew wide engagement from faculty members, research scholars, and students, who gained immensely from Prof. Donner’s cutting‑edge perspectives on advanced methodologies for analyzing complex climate events.
During his visit, Prof. Donner also visited the International Relations Office, IIT Roorkee, accompanied by Prof. Ankit Agarwal, Department of Hydrology. He interacted with Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations, and Prof. KARUN RAWAT, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering. The discussions centered on exploring opportunities for academic collaboration, joint research initiatives, and student exchange programs between IIT Roorkee and international institutions.
