The Department of Humanities & Social Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, recently hosted Dr. Pavel Chakraborty from the University of Bath, UK. He is the Foreign Principal Investigator (PI) of an ongoing SPARC (Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration) project and visited the campus from 14–28 February 2026 for project meetings and consultations. During his visit, he visited the International Relations Office along with Prof. Dr. Pratap Mohanty, Department of HSS, and met with the Dean (International Relations), Prof. KARUN RAWAT, and Dr. Shantanu Wahal, Consultant, International Cooperation, to discuss potential avenues for academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.
The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral engagement through joint research initiatives, faculty exchange, collaborative publications, and student mobility programs. Specific research areas of discussion included interdisciplinary studies in humanities and social sciences, public policy and governance, socio-economic development, sustainability studies, and emerging global challenges requiring cross-disciplinary collaboration. The visit also provided an opportunity to review the progress of the ongoing SPARC project and to further enhance collaborative research outcomes between the two institutions.
