Visit of Dr. Bryan Mark (The Ohio State University, United States) – Discussion on Short-Term Mobility Programme and Prospective MoU Collaboration

Dr. Bryan Mark, Department of Geography, The Ohio State University, USA, along with Mr. Adam Tjoelker, Ph.D. scholar from The Ohio State University, recently visited the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. During their visit, they visited the International Relations Office along with Prof. Saurabh Vijay, PhD, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Roorkee, and met with the Dean of International Relations, Prof. Karun Rawat. Prof. Mark is also serving as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Roorkee.

The deliberations were comprehensive and focused on establishing structured academic collaboration through student mobility initiatives. A detailed discussion was held regarding the introduction of a short-term intensive academic programme as part of a proposed mobility programme between the two institutions. The initiative aims to strengthen academic engagement through formal structuring and coordinated institutional support to facilitate implementation.

Further, both institutions conveyed a strong interest in formalizing their engagement through a broad-based Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) encompassing areas of mutual academic and research interest. A draft Generic MoU is currently under preparation and will be shared shortly to advance the collaboration through formal institutional mechanisms.

The interaction was constructive and reaffirmed a shared commitment to strengthening academic collaboration and student exchange between IIT Roorkee and The Ohio State University.
