The International Relations Office at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee recently hosted Prof. Sumit Agarwal (Professor, Chemical & Biological Engineering, Colorado School of Mines, USA) on 19th March 2026.
During his visit, Prof. Agarwal met with the Dean IR, Prof. KARUN RAWAT, to discuss strengthening academic and research collaborations between the two institutions. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and Colorado School of Mines has already been signed from IIT Roorkee’s side and is currently under process for further formalization.
He also visited the Department of Physics, where he interacted with the Head of Department, Prof. Vipul Rastogi, along with faculty members. The discussions focused on emerging areas in semiconductor device fabrication and opportunities for joint research. During his visit to the Nanofabrication Laboratory, Prof. Arup Samanta accompanied him and provided a detailed overview of the facility and its processes.
Prof. Agarwal delivered an insightful lecture titled “Atomic Scale Processing for Semiconductor Device Fabrication” on 19 March 2026 at the Department of Physics. The lecture witnessed active participation from students, researchers, and faculty members. Students and researchers also had the opportunity to actively engage with the speaker through questions and discussions on advanced topics in the field, followed by an engaging discussion session on cutting-edge developments in semiconductor research.
The visit concluded with a meeting with the Director IIT Roorkee, Prof. K. K. Pant, in the presence of the Dean of International Relations, IIT Roorkee, Prof. Karun Rawat, and faculty members including Prof. Prasenjit Mondal, Head, Department of Chemical Engineering, and Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Head, Centre for Sustainable Energy. The meeting included detailed discussions on long-term strategic collaboration, joint research programs, and strengthening institutional partnerships through the upcoming MoU.
