The Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, recently hosted Padma Shri Prof.Krishna Ganesh, SERB (ANRF) National Science Chair at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru.
During his visit, Prof. Ganesh delivered an insightful Institute lecture titled “Excellence in Education and Science: Past Glory and Future Challenges” on Wednesday, 25 March 2026, at the Pradeep Kapse Auditorium, MIED, IIT Roorkee. The lecture provided a comprehensive perspective on the evolution of scientific research and education, while highlighting key challenges and future opportunities. Prof. Ganesh also delivered the prestigious W.U Malik Lecture organized by the Department of Chemistry, titled: Paradigm shift in Medicinal Chemistry: Nucleic Acid Therapeutics based on DNA, RNA and PNA. His talk illuminated emerging directions in medicinal chemistry, particularly the transformative potential of nucleic acid–based therapeutics.
Students, faculty members, and researchers had the valuable opportunity to interact with Prof. Ganesh, engaging in meaningful discussions and gaining insights from his vast experience in science and education.
During his stay at IIT Roorkee, Prof. Ganesh visited the International Relations (IR) Office, accompanied by Prof. Anuj Sharma, Head of the Department of Chemistry, and Prof. Sayanti Chatterjee, Department of Chemistry. During the visit, he met with the Dean of International Relations, Prof. KARUN RAWAT.
The interaction focused on strengthening academic and research collaborations, exploring opportunities for joint initiatives, research partnerships, and interdisciplinary collaboration between IIT Roorkee and JNCASR.
