The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee recently hosted Prof. Atul Jain, Department of Climate, Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (CLiMAS), University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA, as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Hydrology. As a Visiting Professor, he is contributing to the Institute’s teaching and research programmes by delivering lectures, as well as giving talks and seminars, and interacting with faculty and students at all levels.
During his visit, Prof. Jain also visited the International Relations (IR) Office along with Prof. Naveen Kumar Navani, Dean of Academic Affairs, and met with the Dean of International Relations, IIT Roorkee, Prof. KARUN RAWAT.
The meeting focused on strengthening academic and research collaboration between Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Discussions covered joint research initiatives, faculty and student exchange programmes, and expansion of institutional partnerships, including collaborative projects, joint supervision of research scholars, and research grant proposals, along with industry–academia collaboration and enhanced mobility of students and faculty. Both institutions also expressed interest in formalizing collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The deliberations also included the upcoming visit of an IIT Roorkee delegation to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, aimed at further strengthening institutional engagement and advancing future collaborations.
