Visit of Prof. Byrav Ramamurthi, University of Nebraska, USA to IIT Roorkee

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, recently hosted Byrav Ramamurthy, Chairperson of the Steering Committee of IEEE ANTS and Professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA.

During his visit, he reviewed the preparedness and planning for IEEE ANTS 2026, the upcoming flagship international conference being organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engg, IIT Roorkee from 17–20 December 2026. The event will bring together leading researchers, academicians, industry experts, and innovators from around the world to discuss the latest advances in networking and telecommunications.

As part of his visit, Prof. Ramamurthi visited the International Relations Office along with Prof. Ekant Sharma and Dr. Abhay Kumar Sah from the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. They met with Prof. KARUN RAWAT, Dean of International Relations, to discuss avenues for strengthening academic and research collaboration between IIT Roorkee and the University of Nebraska.

The discussions focused on advancing the proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions and identifying key areas for collaboration. Particular emphasis was placed on the development of short-term academic courses, joint research initiatives, and opportunities for faculty and student exchange. Discussions also highlighted potential collaboration in emerging research domains such as green communication systems and networks, machine learning for communications, among others. Both institutions also explored avenues for collaborative academic programmes and innovation-driven partnerships in these cutting-edge areas.
