Prof. Karun Rawat, Dean of International Relations, IIT Roorkee, represented the Institute at a series of high-level academic and research engagements hosted by Université Paris-Saclay and Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), France on 9 June 2026.
At Université Paris-Saclay, the IIT/IISc delegation was welcomed by Prof. Camille GALAP, President, for discussions on research excellence, innovation ecosystems, graduate education, funding opportunities, and avenues for strengthening collaboration between leading French and Indian institutions. The visit also featured presentations highlighting the University’s research capabilities and innovation ecosystem, followed by a tour of the CentraleSupélec campus.
Later, the delegation visited Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), where they were received by Prof. Thierry Coulhon, President, and Prof. Christopher Cripps, Vice President for Europe and International Affairs. The discussions focused on graduate education, doctoral programmes, interdisciplinary research, artificial intelligence, information and communication technologies, and engineering for health, while exploring opportunities for future academic and research collaboration.
These engagements provided valuable insights into France’s higher education and research landscape while facilitating discussions on expanding collaboration in research, innovation, technology transfer, student and faculty mobility, and joint academic programmes. The meetings reinforced the mutual commitment of Indian and French institutions to strengthening long-term academic and research partnerships and identified new opportunities for collaboration in areas of shared strategic interest.

The day’s engagements concluded with a reception at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, hosted by H.E. Mr. Sanjeev Singla, Ambassador of India to France. The reception offered an excellent platform for networking with academic leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders, further strengthening institutional partnerships between India and France.
Through such strategic international engagements, the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee continues to expand its global partnerships and remains committed to fostering meaningful collaborations in education, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
