A meeting between IIT Roorkee and the University of Alberta, Canada

An online meeting was organized between the University of Alberta (UoA) and IIT Roorkee.  During this meeting, both partners discussed the participation and formation of the Joint Research and Innovation Network (JRIN). This would provide a framework by which the parties can foster and develop a comprehensive relationship through a range of scholarly activities.

The UoA was represented by Prof. Amit Kumar-Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Deputy Director, Future Energy Systems, President, Engage India: Association of Professors, Prof. Cen Huang -Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President (International), Dr Andre McDonald- Associate Vice President (Research and Priorities), Vice-President Research Innovation, Mr John Bell-International Research Officer, VPRI Strategic Research Initiatives and Performance.

From IIT Roorkee, Prof V C Srivastava (Dean of International Relations) and Dr Ravikant Ranjan actively participated in the online meeting.

Both sides extensively discussed the opportunities of extending the existing collaboration between IIT Roorkee and the University of Alberta. The UoA discussed and proposed the specific fields for collaborations with IIT Roorkee. Different research facilities and departments were discussed including the last visit by UoA delegates to IIT Roorkee.

IIT Roorkee has a long-standing and mutually beneficial relationship with UoA, with a successful JDDP with UoA. Both sides also agreed to develop a better understanding and discuss the upcoming proposal and apply jointly if required. A mechanism to coordinate between faculty members from both sides to make a successful proposal was discussed including securing grants for it.
