A delegation from IIT Roorkee recently visited the University of Zululand, South Africa, to explore avenues of academic and research collaboration. The delegation was led by Prof. K. K. Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee, along with Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations, and Prof. Brijesh Kumar Yadav, Department of Hydrology.
During the visit, IIT Roorkee and the University of Zululand signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen collaboration in areas of mutual academic and research interest. The MoU was formally signed by Prof. K. K. Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee, and Prof. Xoliswa Mtose, Vice Chancellor, University of Zululand. The agreement focuses on joint research projects, student and faculty exchanges, capacity-building initiatives, and knowledge-sharing efforts, thereby laying the foundation for a long-term partnership that will benefit both institutions.
The visit also coincided with an international conference at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Durban, where eminent academicians and leaders from across the globe gathered to explore opportunities for collaboration. Distinguished dignitaries present included Hon. Minister Blade Nzimande, Minister of Science & Technology, South Africa, Prof. Xoliswa Mtose, Vice Chancellor, University of Zululand, Prof. B. Brown, Programme Director, Prof. Peiyue Li, Chang’an University, China, and Prof. Sipho Seepe, University of Zululand.
The IIT Roorkee delegation’s visit was facilitated by Prof. V. Elumalai, University of Zululand, whose support was instrumental in enabling this meaningful engagement.
This important engagement, along with the signing of the MoU, represents a significant step in IIT Roorkee’s vision of fostering meaningful global partnerships and enhancing its international presence.
