Professor Annette Bayer (Vice-Dean, Research and Innovation; Professor in Chemistry, University of Tromsø, UiT, Norway) is currently visiting the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Biosciences & Bioengineering (6–20 March 2026).
During her visit, she has been actively interacting with students and faculty members, fostering academic exchange and research discussions. As part of her recent activities, she visited the International Relations (IR) Office along with Prof. Ranjana Pathania (Department of Biosciences & Bioengineering) and Prof. Naveen Kumar Navani, Dean of Academic Affairs, and met with the Dean of International Relations, IIT Roorkee, Prof. KARUN RAWAT, to explore avenues for strengthening international collaboration.
The discussions focused on expanding Indo–Norway academic partnerships, identifying new areas of joint research in chemical and biological sciences, promoting faculty and student exchange programs, and exploring possibilities for joint funding proposals and long-term institutional collaboration.
Her visit is contributing to ongoing research initiatives and building upon the successful Indo–Norway ICARBA project (2018–2021), which has led to high-impact publications. A joint patent application on novel beta-lactamase inhibitors is also currently in progress.
The institute sincerely thanks Prof. Annette Bayer for her valuable visit and looks forward to continued collaboration.
