Prof. Oliver Günther, President of the University of Potsdam visited Co-PREPARE partner IIT Roorkee

President of the University of Potsdam, Professor Oliver Günther, visited IIT Roorkee on Jan 14, 2022. His visit was facilitated by the Co-PREPARE project. During this short visit, he had intensive discussions with faculty members and researchers of the Department of Hydrology, Centre of Excellence in Disaster Mitigation and Management (CoEDMM), Deans and the Director of IIT Roorkee.

He was welcomed at the Department of Hydrology by the Head of the Dept. Prof Brijesh K Yadav, Prof Ankit Agarwal and other faculty members of the department.

Faculty members at the Department of Hydrology discussed ongoing projects and were updated about the COPREPARE project in the meeting. He also visited the Centre of Excellence in Disaster Mitigation and Management (CoEDMM). Prof Sumit Sen, Head of CoEDMM gave an informative presentation on the Centre’s objectives, ongoing activities, future plans and prospective areas of collaboration between the University of Potsdam and IIT Roorkee.

Prof Günther also visited the International Relations (IR) office at IIT Roorkee where he was welcomed by Prof P Arumugam, Dean International Relations, who is also Co-PI of the Co-PREPARE project. Internationalization is also part of the Co-PREPARE project, Prof. Günther was apprised with different aspects of Internationalization.

Prof Günther also interacted with the staff members at the IR Office and discussed concerns related to prospective joint activities between the University of Potsdam and IIT Roorkee and the Co-PREPARE project.

Prof Günther thanked the Director, Deans and other faculty members for the hospitality at IIT Roorkee and signed off with the assurance that the two institutes will continue to work together to broaden their partnership and keep exploring avenues of future collaborations.
