Visit of delegation from Leiden University, Netherlands, and Technical University of Munich, Germany at IIT Roorkee

The International Relations Office, IIT Roorkee, recently hosted a delegation comprising Dr. Akrati Saxena from Leiden University, Netherlands, and Dr. Rachit Khare, Group Leader at the Catalysis Research Center, Technical University of Munich. During their visit, they interacted with Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations, and Prof. Gaurav Dixit, Joint Faculty at the Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (MFS). Discussions focused on exploring collaboration opportunities with partner universities, particularly in research and academic exchanges.

As part of the visit:

 Dr. Akrati Saxena delivered a insightful talk at the Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence titled: “Algorithmic Fairness in Social Network Analysis: FairSNA.” She addressed the critical need for fairness-aware methods in Social Network Analysis (SNA), highlighting strategies to counter structural biases and promote fairness and diversity in SNA.

Dr. Rachit Khare also delivered a thought-provoking lecture in the Department of Chemical Engineering. During the session, faculty and students had the opportunity to engage with Dr. Khare through a lively Q&A session. The interaction provided students with a unique chance to learn directly from a global expert, enriching their academic experience and inspiring new research ideas.
