MoU Signing between IIT Roorkee and Yonsei University, South Korea

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) has taken a significant step in enhancing academic and research collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Yonsei University, South Korea. The MoU was signed by Prof. K.K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, and on behalf of Yonsei University, by Chungyong Lee, Ph.D., Dean, College of Engineering. This partnership aims to foster joint research, faculty exchange programs, and student collaborations while advancing knowledge in crucial areas such as Urban Analysis and Policy, Urban Environment and Externalities, Climate Change Adaptation, Urban Risk Mitigation, Urban Mobility and Infrastructure Planning, and Digital Twin Technologies.

The signing ceremony was part of a four-day event that began with a collaborative research workshop hosted by Yonsei University. Distinguished faculty members from both institutions presented groundbreaking research on thematic areas of mutual interest. Faculty participants from Yonsei University included Prof. Jinhee Kim, Prof. Dong Keun Yoon, Prof. Meen Chel Jung, and Prof. Seungbeom Kang, while IIT Roorkee was represented by Prof. Mahua Mukherjee, Prof. Arindam Biswas, Prof. Harshit Sosan Lakra, and Prof. Shubhajit Sadhukhan. These presentations highlighted the potential for interdisciplinary research in addressing contemporary urban challenges.

On the day of the MoU signing, Sundosoft Inc. delivered a lecture on disaster management technologies utilizing AI and Digital Twin frameworks, highlighting the synergy between academia and industry in urban resilience research.

In the following days, Prof. Meen Chel Jung and an RMS, Inc. expert shared insights on Urban Heat Island mitigation and smart city initiatives. Students from both institutions showcased innovative research, emphasizing the collaboration’s commitment to nurturing talent and sustainable urban development.
