Dr. Young Ho Kim, Director of the India Korea Center for Research and Innovation (IKCRI), recently visited Iit Roorkee during the International Conferences on Space for Sustainability: Science, Technology, Education, and Policy (S2:STEP2025) and the 6th Indian Planetary Science Conference (IPSC-2025).
These conferences were organized by the Centre for Space Science and Technology at IIT Roorkee and co-hosted by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO – Indian Space Research Organisation)-SPACe, IAA, ASI, and IPSA. The events saw participation from approximately 600 delegates from India and abroad and featured 400 technical papers.
Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman of ISRO, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Prof. Kamal Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, presided over the function. The event provided an important platform for collaboration among scientists, researchers, and industry leaders in space science.
Highlights included interactive panel discussions, plenary lectures, a space exhibition, and technical displays by CANSAT, Model Rocketry, and POEM teams, along with the “Space on Wheels” initiative.
During his visit, Dr. Kim, alongside Prof. S H Upadhyay, Head of CSST, visited the International Relations Office and interacted with Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations. He also met Prof. Mahua Mukherjee, Head of the Department of Architecture & Planning, Prof. Arindam Biswas, Prof. Harshit Sosan Lakrara, and other faculty members and students from the Architecture & Planning Department.
Additionally, the event featured an interactive session on the roadmap for Indian space start-ups, where approximately 20 start-ups and industries shared their experiences and vision, contributing to the dynamic dialogue surrounding space sustainability and innovation.
