An interactive skype meeting with the University of Alberta was held on February 19, 2020 at the Conference Room, IR Office, IIT Roorkee. Prof. Danielle Scott, Director – International Relations, and Prof. Amit Kumar, Faculty of Engineering, from the University of Alberta; Prof. P. Arumugam, Associate Dean – International Relations, Prof. P. Gopinath, Associate Dean – Academic Affairs (Admission), and Dr. Pushpa Kumari, Executive Officer, IIT Roorkee, discussed the application and selection process of the Joint Doctoral Degree Programme (JDP). The modalities finalized during this meeting shall be executed after jointly publishing the press release of the JDP that is tentatively scheduled in the mid of March.
At present, IIT Roorkee has partnership under Joint Doctoral Degree Programme with two universities, viz. University of Alberta, Canada, and University of Strasbourg, France. Four more partnerships under JDP are under process. Following are the key facts of the JDP:
- Collaborating professors from both institutions jointly identify research projects for joint degree students to work on as part of their doctoral studies.
- They must spend minimum 6 months over the entire duration of the program at the host institution.
- Student shall pay tuition fee at their home institute only.
