The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, had the great pleasure of welcoming Prof. Biswanath (Bis) Mukherjee, Distinguished Professor Emeritus at UC Davis and Founder & President of Ennetix to our campus.
During his visit, he visited the IR Office along with Prof. Abhay Sah and met with Dean of International Relations, IIT Roorkee, Prof. KARUN RAWAT, to explore opportunities for broader global collaboration. The interaction focused on expanding academic exchanges, joint research initiatives, and building long-term strategic partnerships between IIT Roorkee and leading international institutions.
Prof. Mukherjee engaged in insightful sessions with Prof. Pradumn Pandey, Head of ICC, and his team to discuss collaborative solutions in network observability, AI/GenAI-enabled infrastructure monitoring, security, and performance analytics. He also held department-level discussions with Prof. Sanjeev Manhas, Head of ECE, on strengthening academic and international research initiatives.
At the department, he interacted with ECE faculty members—Prof. Abhay Sah, Prof. Ekant Sharma, Prof. bodhibrata mukhopadhyay, Prof. Saurabh Khanna, and Prof. Biplab Sarkar—alongside students to explore joint research, teaching, and training, particularly in communication and optical networks. Additionally, fruitful discussions took place regarding ongoing preparations for IEEE ANTS 2026, scheduled at IIT Roorkee from 17–20 December 2026. Prof. Mukherjee is a founding member of IEEE ANTS, having co-founded the conference in 2007, making his insights and guidance particularly valuable as we prepare for the upcoming edition.
Prof. Mukherjee is an IEEE Fellow and the recipient of the 2026 IEEE Eric E. Sumner Award for Pioneering Contributions in Communications Technology. His visit provided an exceptional platform to bridge technology innovation, education, and global research. We sincerely thank Prof. Mukherjee for his time, vision, and enthusiasm, and we look forward to translating these discussions into impactful joint initiatives.
