The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, recently hosted Dr. Devi de Luca, Executive Chairman, Delsys International, United States, who delivered a lecture titled “Next-Generation Bio-Signal Processing, Surface EMG Technology, and Assistive Robotics.” The BALRAM Lab, Department of ECE, IIT Roorkee, and EICT Academy, IIT Roorkee, jointly organised the programme, which focused on emerging applications of bio-signal processing, surface electromyography (sEMG), rehabilitation analysis, assistive robotics, and machine-intelligent measurements.
The lecture provided a valuable opportunity for students, researchers, faculty members, and professionals interested in biomedical engineering, signal processing, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), and rehabilitation technologies to gain insights directly from an internationally recognised expert.
During her visit, Dr. Devi De Luca was accompanied by Prof. THARUN KUMAR REDDY BOLLU, Department of ECE, and Prof. Pritam Kumar, Pukhya Pvt Ltd. She visited the Office of the Dean, International Relations, where she met with Dean IR, Prof. KARUN RAWAT, and Prof. Kritika Kothari, Department of Water Resources Development and Management, Coordinator, Global Partnerships & International Mobility Programs.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss potential areas of international academic collaboration between IIT Roorkee and Delsys Inc., including research opportunities in wearable electromyography (EMG), human biosensors, assistive robotics, faculty and student engagement, and future joint research initiatives. The interaction facilitated academic exchange and explored opportunities for strengthening international research partnerships in biomedical engineering, signal processing, and emerging assistive technologies.
