IIT Roorkee organized a two-day SPARC-sponsored International Workshop on “GaN Device Technologies and Packaging” on September 24–25, 2026, in collaboration with National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), Taiwan. Supported by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, the workshop focused on emerging GaN semiconductor technologies and their applications in power electronics, electric vehicles, wireless power transfer, AI data centres, and RF systems.

Experts including Prof. K K Pant, Director, IITR, Prof. Praveen Kumar, Dy. Director, IITR, Prof. Wei-Hua Chieng, Prof. Ramkrishan Maheshwari, Prof. Karun Rawat, Prof. Sumit Pramanick, Prof. Jaya Jha, Dr. Nagesh C., Dr. Kumud Ranjan, and Dr. Rohini Kitture delivered invited sessions, sharing valuable insights into recent developments and future directions in GaN device technologies.
Ms. Ya-Hui Chang, Executive Officer, Science and Technology Division, Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India, also graced the occasion and discussed opportunities to strengthen India–Taiwan academic and research collaboration with the Dean, International Relations, IIT Roorkee.
The workshop concluded with a valedictory session, certificate distribution, and laboratory visit. It was coordinated by Prof. Prashant Surana, Prof. Apurv Kumar Yadav, and Prof. Biplab Sarkar.
During the visit, Ms. Ya-Hui Chang, and Prof. Wei-Hua Chieng, accompanied by Prof. Prashant Surana and Prof. Biplab Sarkar, visited the Office of International Relations, where they met with Prof. Karun Rawat, Dean, International Relations, IIT Roorkee. The interaction focused on strengthening India–Taiwan academic and research partnerships, exploring opportunities for faculty and student exchange, and identifying potential areas for future collaborative research and institutional engagement.
