On 5th December 2024, representatives from Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, Germany, including Dr. Volkan Filiz and Dr. Sarah Glaß, visited the International Relations Office at IIT Roorkee. They were accompanied by Prof. Bhaskar Jyoti Deka (Department of Hydrology, IIT Roorkee). They met with Prof. Vimal Kumar, Acting Dean (Department of Chemical Engineering), and Dr. Shantanu Wahal, Consultant, International Cooperation. During their meeting, discussions focused on setting up a Student Exchange Program between IIT Roorkee and Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, aimed at fostering global learning experiences and academic collaboration for students of both institutions.
During their visit, the delegation met with Prof. K.K. Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee, and Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean, IR.
As a highlight of their visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally signed, marking the initiation of a long-term collaboration between IIT Roorkee and Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon. This ceremony occurred during the inaugural session of the international workshop on “Fostering Deep Membrane Science Research for Desalination, Brine Reclamation, and Resource Extraction (MemSci-Brine)” held on 4th December 2024.
