His Excellency Mr. Hans Jacob Frydenlund – Ambassador of Norway to India along with his delegation visited IIT Roorkee on March 24, 2022. The Ambassador’s visit involved a boardroom meeting with the Director- IIT Roorkee and a group of faculty members from IIT Roorkee, tour of research facilities at Geotechnical Engineering at Civil Engineering department and the department of Biosciences and Bioengineering.

The Norwegian delegation which also comprised of Ms. Marit Marie Strand – Counsellor for Cooperation, Norway Embassy; Dr. Rajinder Kumar Bhasin – Regional Manager Asia, Norwegian Geotechnical Institute, and Mr. Vivek Kumar – Senior Advisor Royal Norwegian Embassy was welcomed by Prof. Mahendra Singh at N C Nigam Visitor’s Hostel.
Meeting with Director, Deans and other faculty members in Board Room of IIT Roorkee
A boardroom meeting was organized between the Norwegian delegation and Director-IIT Roorkee Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi along with the group of Deans and faculty members from IIT Roorkee. The meeting was graced by the presence of various dignitaries from IIT Roorkee besides the Director-IIT Roorkee. Among them were, Prof Manish Shrikhande, Dean of Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy; Prof. Partha Roy, Dean of Resources and Alumni Affairs; Prof M K Singhal, Head-Hydro and Renewable Energy; Prof. Mahendra Singh, Prof. N K Samadhiya, and Prof. Priti Maheshwari from Civil Engineering; Prof. Yogendra Singh, Earthquake Engineering, Prof. Ranjana Pathania, Biosciences and Bioengineering; Prof. Ameya Nayak, Mathematics.

Later on, the Norwegian delegation was given a tour of research facilities in the field of geotechnical Engineering in Departments of Civil Engineering and Biosciences and Bioengineering. The members of the delegation interacted with the research scholars and students at the labs and learnt about the ongoing research activities.
