R.8 Leave, Assistantship and Withdrawal

R.8.1 Leave Rules

A full-time student should be present in the campus except when on authorized leave. S/he will be entitled to casual leave for 8 days, vacation leave for 15 days and 15 days leave on medical grounds, per year. Once during the entire programme, the Head of Department/Centre may sanction, on the recommendation of the thesis supervisor, additional leave of maximum 15 days. A student is entitled to Assistantship/Fellowship for the sanctioned leave period including periods of maternity leave (180 days) and paternity leave (15 days). Duty leave up to a maximum of one year in the entire duration of the programme may be granted by the Head of Department/Centre for field trips, to visit other institutions, and to present paper(s) in Seminars/ Conferences/ Workshops. Requests for duty leave for more than one year will be considered by the IRC.

It is hereby notified for the information of all concerned that a full-time M.Tech./M.Arch./M.U.R.P. etc. (two year programme) student during his/her stay at the Institute will be entitled for 08 days casual and 15 days vacation leave including leave on medical grounds in an academic year. He/She will not be entitled to mid-semester breaks, summer and winter vacation.

a.) The leave will be subject to approval of the concerned Head of the Department/Academic Centre/Programme Coordinator.

b.) The Department/Academic Centre/Programme Coordinator concerned shall maintain a proper leave account of each student.


Leave for Assistantship Holders


5.4.2 dt 17.12.2002

  1. A full-time M.Tech./M.Arch./M.U.R.P. etc. (two year programme) student during his/her stay at the Institute will be entitled for 08 days casual and 15 days vacation leave including leave on medical grounds in an academic year. He/She will not be entitled to mid-semester breaks, summer and winter vacation.
  2. The leave will be subject to approval of the concerned Head of the Department/Academic Centre/Programme Coordinator.
  3. The Department/Academic Centre/Programme Coordinator concerned shall maintain a proper leave account of each student.
  4. The leave beyond due leave will be without Assistantship/Scholarship/Fellowship.
  5. Special leave may be granted by Head of the Department/Centre to attend Seminars/Conferences in India and present paper. However, permission of Dean, Academic Affairs, is required to attend Seminars/Conferences in India and abroad to present paper.
  6. Field trips and attending Seminars/Conferences/Workshops will be considered on duty.
