How To Apply


Candidates who are NOT citizens of India (by birth or naturalized) (but not Overseas Citizens of India / Persons of Indian Origin (OCI/PIO) candidates who have secured OCI/PIO card before 04.03.2021) shall be considered as FOREIGN NATIONALS.

Postgraduate and Ph.D. Admissions

The students can be admitted in the following categories

  1. Through GATE Examination (http://gate.iitm.ac.in/)
  2. ICCR Scholarship (Government of India) (http://iccr.gov.in)
  3. Study in India Portal (https://www.studyinindia.gov.in/)
  4. Foreign Government Sponsorships (Click here for some of them)
  5. Sponsored by a partner institute (Under Specific Bilateral Agreements)
  6. Other Funding Agencies

Candidates applying for admission to PG/PhD programmes under the categories 1 to 6 (listed above) should apply through the respective links/portals. Other candidates are required to submit their application through our online portal (see left part of this page).

Applications sent directly by students without a sponsor will not be entertained. Applicants without a sponsor may apply through categories 1 to 6. For example, the Study in India portal allows applications without sponsors.

Eligibility criteria and other details

The candidate will be evaluated for his competence in English language communication skills through a seminar and if not found satisfactory, the candidate will have to undergo a course in communication skills conducted by the Humanities & Social Sciences Department at this Institute.
